Coaching

it’s good to talk

Goals

Martin Howden describes coaching as ‘a process of challenge designed to help you develop the clarity and the courage to do whatever you need to do next’.

Essentially it’s a non-directive, collaborative conversation between two parties, that focuses on the thinking of one of them, that enables profound change through questions, reflections and the encouragement of new behaviours.

At some stage in our lives many of us find it useful to have someone who will help us gain some clarity around a particular situation - whether that’s work related, or home-based or just wanting to think about how to move forward.

Over recent years I’ve worked with, amongst others, church leaders, youth and children’s pastors, individuals who are simply feeling stuck and those wanting to work towards a particular goal.

“Ruth helped me to see myself and key situations clearly, I felt empowered to act. After one particular session something ‘clicked’, and the next morning I addressed a situation differently and saw a major breakthrough. Ruth listens well, is clear and supportive, offering tailored insight and challenge – just what I needed.” — Rev Sue Timmins, Vicar, Lancashire

Coaching Conversations

Mentoring

Whilst coaching tends to be centred around a particular question, goal or situation, mentoring offers a longer term opportunity to have a regular space to reflect and receive encouragement, challenge and insight.
